In northeast Ohio, donations help preserve Ohio’s remaining bogs and fens, which are rare and unique wetlands. The Cooperrider-Kent Bog State Nature Preserve, located outside of Kent in Portage County, is an excellent example of how tax refund donations can benefit Ohio’s natural areas.
John Muir wrote in his 1912 work The Yosemite, "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike." I regard Ohio's dedicated nature preserves as filling the role of the very places to which Muir refers. And it is my great pleasure to be, along with you, a steward of these special places.
