JACKSON, OH – Experience the calm and beauty of one of Ohio’s prettiest lakes during an evening canoe tour at Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve in Jackson on Saturday, May 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Join ODNR Division of Natural Areas and Preserve staff as we paddle along the serene lake listening and searching for the wildlife inhabiting this unique lake. This is an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy the waters of Lake Katharine that is otherwise accessible by permit only.

Comprising 2,019 acres, Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve is a magnificent natural area in southeast Ohio. The focal point of this preserve is a clear water lake surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs.

The preserve has many native orchids and harbors the state's largest and finest populations of both bigleaf and umbrella magnolia trees, both state-listed species.

Located in Jackson County, 2 miles west from Jackson on State Street (County Road 76 or Beaver Pike); turn right and proceed 2 miles north on County Road 85 (1703 Lake Katharine Road, Jackson).

Reservations are required and space is limited. To make a reservation, call or email the preserve manager at (740) 286-2487 or jason.garey@dnr.state.oh.us.
