Tax Donations Fund Preservation of Ohio’s State Nature Preserves

Posted on 1/21/2016 by State Nature Preserves

On behalf of the entire Natural Areas staff, I wish you the happiest New Year and the hope that 2016 brings great joy and blessings to you and your loved ones.

John Muir wrote in his 1912 work The Yosemite, "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike." I regard Ohio's dedicated nature preserves as filling the role of the very places to which Muir refers. And it is my great pleasure to be, along with you, a steward of these special places.

I also want to take this opportunity to ask for your continued support as a partner in protecting these unique and amazing sites. Contributions that individuals like you make to our State Income Tax Refund Donation Program are the lifeblood for Ohio State Nature Preserves. These precious dollars are used in many ways - for funding our intensive efforts to control invasive species that threaten our native plant diversity, for building and maintaining infrastructure to provide you a safe and enjoyable visit, and for acquiring additional properties to protect more of Ohio's rarest natural areas and endangered species.

Together, we can work together to protect Ohio State Nature Preserves - our most beautiful, unique and peaceful natural areas.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Johnson
