Winter Owl Prowl at Davey Woods

Posted on 1/20/2015 by State Nature Preserves

Join Natural Areas manager Michelle Comer for a winter evening hike at Davey Woods State Nature Preserve on Thursday, January 29 at 5 p.m. In addition to its majestic trees and outstanding wildflower display, this mature forest is home to at least two species of owls. We will learn more about these nocturnal creatures and hope to hear or catch a glimpse of one.

This is one of the best woodlots remaining in this part of Ohio. Named in honor of the Davey Tree Expert Company which, through The Nature Conservancy, provided half the funding to acquire this site in 1989.
