Winter Wonderings Hike at Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve on December 20

Have you ever wondered how the hundreds of Ohio creatures survive the long winter? Beyond hibernation, Ohio critters have sweet and savvy winter survival tricks. Join the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve on Sunday, December 20 at 2 p.m. to discover them yourself.

Visitors will have an opportunity to hike Boch Hollow’s new and improved trails looking for signs of life, both active and dormant and accompanied by naturalists. Flying squirrels, chipmunks and birds all have winter secrets to share on how they survive the wintry conditions.

The Winter Wonderings program will also feature a kid-friendly scavenger hunt during the hike. After the hike, hot chocolate will be available for all participants, as well as craft activities for the younger set.

Meet at the Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve office, which is located at 7211 Bremen Road in Logan. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend, but please remember pets are not allowed in state nature preserves. Boch Hollow is located about 8 miles north of Logan, take State Route 664 north. Turn right onto Beach Camp Rd. Continue about 1.4 miles, merge straight onto Bremen Rd., continue 0.6 miles, the office is on your right with small brown reflective sign.
