Support Natural Areas on Your Ohio Income Tax Return

Support Natural Areas

The Natural Areas checkoff program on the Ohio personal income tax return provides a convenient, efficient way to support the Division of Natural Areas and Preserves. Since its inception in 1983, over two million donations have been made to the Division, providing nearly $16 million for natural land conservation and management.

What's Happening in the Preserves

short-eared owl

Winter is a fantastic time to visit Ohio’s State Nature Preserves. With the cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing, waterfalls at Conkles Hollow and Clifton Gorge have completely frozen, creating massive natural ice sculptures.

Programs Across the State: Join Us In The Field!

All Natural Areas programs are free and open to everyone! Please note that no pre-registration is required except the May 17th canoe trip to Lake Katharine – see that listing for details.

Volunteer Events

Help control multiflora rose (and other non-native, invasive shrubs) and collect trash at the new St. Marys River Wetlands State Nature Preserve on Saturday, March 15, or at Davey Woods State Nature Preserve on April 17.

Division Receives Conservation Partnership Award

The Division of Natural Areas and Preserves was honored to receive the first annual Appalachian Ohio Alliance Conservation Partnership Award.
