Diamond in the Rough Gets a Little Polish: Stage’s Pond State Nature Preserve

Purple Dwarf Larkspur Stage’s Pond State Nature Preserve, located in Pickaway County, is nature's own monument to the great ice fields which covered most of Ohio 17,000 years ago. This preserve, which was dedicated in 1974, was protected to promote the “Glacial Kettle/Diverse Habitat Association.” This description, however, is not completely accurate.

Ohio Wildflower Bloom Report and Contest Wrap-up for 2016 Season

Winner Photo The blooms started extremely early this season, thanks to a very mild winter. Our first wildflower bloom report was filed nearly a month earlier than last year's. Some species like hepatica were blooming in early January!
